I miss drawing :) Posting and waiting for views to come and hoping for kind souls to linger on and leave a comment or fave if lucky. Haha. I've got some unexpected free time lately, what with moving out after almost 28 years of my life in my parents' den. It could be permanent or not but we'll see.

I don't have a scanner where I live right now but I suppose a digital camera will do. I'll post a couple of drawings I did a couple of months back. I've been a very lazy girl, I know :)

Hope everyone is still nice and dandy :)

A lovely day to you all!

I think listening to these random audio courses (novels - dating - marketing - stand ups) is going to drive me nuts one of these days. Well if it hasn't already. I'm pretty crazy already so it won't be so obvious if it does drive me nuts. Hmmm...yeah *licks the tip of her nose*

I'm listening to a marketing guru right now. Jay Abraham - Mastermind Marketing. I don't know why I'm listening to marketing audio cds! I guess I want to sell something someday? Like maybe myself? Who wants to buy me? Anyone?

Ok so I've been following Hotaru no Hikari 2 lately and it made me wonder why I liked Japanese dramas when in most cases they seem too simple compared to Hollywood-made ones. So I think it's the simplicity of the story and how it's cute that in each story they really emphasize these valuable lessons that seems to be lost in most modern shows/movies nowadays. I realized it's the reason why whenever I need a pick-me-up from life, work, and whatcheevah, I always go to my stack of Japanese dramas for relief. That kinda sounded naughty didn't it? So since I've put Hotaru no Hikari 2 in the title I guess I'm obligated to say what lesson/s I learn from watching it. It's mainly about work and how the character is simple minded and a bit dumb at times, yet it's admirable how she is passionate about her job and willing to give her 120% no matter what kind of difficult circumstances she encounters on the way. (Did I just forget to use the period somewhere in that sentence?) And if you're pretty much an old hag like me, you have probably experienced losing interest in your work even if it's something that you used to love. I did, but now I'm back and hoping it will stay!

Ok enough about that. Who has watched Inception already? I've been reading raves from those few I follow on twittah and now I'm freakin' curious if it really is that good.

On the same note. If you don't want to die from ultimate cuteness or have creepy thoughts of kidnapping cute little kids that can say big words then don't watch this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrYPJ4… Click on it. Veeeeeerrryy goooood!

First...

AHhhhhhh!!! I can't believe I've put off watching Kick-Ass for months! Wait, was it just months or a year already? Bah I don't care! I love the movie! There is so much ass kicking in that movie that I don't know how they are going to top that with the sequel. I just hope they do because I'm definitely hooked!

Second...

AHhhhhhh!!! I can't believe I've put off reading Yankee-kun to Megane-chan for who knows how long! I've read the 1st few chapters before and I remember liking it even if the art at the beginning isn't really that good. I should have slapped myself back then because most of the manga I enjoyed reading are lacking in the pretty art department in the beginning but definitely improved a lot after a few volumes. I really like re-reading manga that I enjoyed before. It feels like I'm seeing how the artist grew and improved his art over time. As for the stories, it is definitely a very important aspect and a good story with bad art is more forgivable than a pretty one with a bad story!

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan's characters are so adorable! It's one of those stories that will make you feel like you want to go back to school and try your luck at meeting friends that are as fun as these characters. You know you are reading something good when you start day dreaming about being friends with the characters :XD: or well atleast that is my sign if I've gone nuts about a manga.

I've also started watching the live-action version of Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. Naka Riisa is a really good actress. She's like the mini Nakama Yuki/Yankumi from Gokusen :XD: and... Narimiya Hiroki *nosebleeds* Seriously, that guy is just so hot! He is really hilarious with all the weird facial expressions. He totally reminds me of Meowth from Pokemon! :XD: I can't believe no one commented on that one at Vikii.

So watch it if you still haven't! I watched it at mysoju.com. Read the manga too! It's all fun, fun, fun!

If you have a question...

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 17, 2008, 11:50 PM

Journaloo

Just google it.

Seriously. That's the best piece of advice that you could follow for the rest of your life. Stop depending on other people to provide you with answers. Like for example, I get asked a lot how I setup my paypal account. It's ok with me to answer questions about it, but please, don't ask me to provide step by step instructions on it. There's a lot of articles in Google that provide the information you need, and in good detailed format too.

It's nice when someone asks you a question when they're stuck on something and can't find an answer anywhere else. At least you know this person has already made the effort to research before asking you.

Now the reason I am ranting about this is because I have a problem saying "No" to people who do this to me. Which sucks because it's a waste of my time dealing with stuff that you can do yourself. A lot of people out there are like me. Might put a smile on our face while saying yes to your request but actually feeling annoyed inside. Call it being nice, stupid, or being a hypocrite. What matters to you is you got what you wanted without an inch of effort.

So in conclusion, if you don't want to be a bother to others, I suggest you try to get used to using google for your life questions. You'd be surprised at how much information about anything are readily available in there.

Focused Practice does not equal to everyday work

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 27, 2008, 8:43 PM

Journaloo

I'd like to quote an article I've read recently about how focused practice, not everyday work, makes you better in your craft.

Contrary to what you might believe, merely doing your job every day doesn't qualify as real practice. Going to meetings isn't practicing your people skills, and replying to mail isn't practicing your typing. You have to set aside some time once in a while and do focused practice in order to get better at something.

I know a lot of great engineers -- that's one of the best perks of working at Amazon -- and if you watch them closely, you'll see that they practice constantly. As good as they are, they still practice. They have all sorts of ways of doing it, and this essay will cover a few of them.

The great engineers I know are as good as they are because they practice all the time. People in great physical shape only get that way by working out regularly, and they need to keep it up, or they get out of shape. The same goes for programming and engineering.

It isn't about art but the concept is applicable to us artists as well. I am stumped when I read this because I've been relying too much on the work experience I get. Yes you do improve when you work. Especially when you work on new projects you're not too familiar with. But if you think about it, nothing really beats focused practice!

Ericsson argues that what matters is not experience per se but "effortful study," which entails continually tackling challenges that lie just beyond one's competence. That is why it is possible for enthusiasts to spend tens of thousands of hours playing chess or golf or a musical instrument without ever advancing beyond the amateur level and why a properly trained student can overtake them in a relatively short time. It is interesting to note that time spent playing chess, even in tournaments, appears to contribute less than such study to a player's progress; the main training value of such games is to point up weaknesses for future study.

So it's the same reason why my tone-deaf neighbors are still tone-deaf eventhough they sing karaoke every single day for years now.

Lately I've been feeling even crappier than the usual. I swear I've turned emo already. It is slowly turning into depression, I swear. The thing is, I've always loved studying and though it does count as practice too, It is still different from the actual hands-on practice which counts a lot more. A few months ago, I've decided to focus much on work due to financial problems at home. (We still have that problem but we're slowly recovering). I thought, it's ok because work = practice anyway so I'll improve as I get more work. I've totally stopped self-studying and even practicing what I've learned. Looking back, 6 months ago, I've only improved a little compared to my improvement when I still included studying in my daily routine. So now I'm just a Jack. All work and no play. It made me dull and it made me frustrated. My mind is just a bit stronger than I thought so I'm able to fight it off a bit. But there's only so little you can do to actually control what you feel and I know that what I need to do now is to give-in to what my body and mind wants.

I've had a 1 month vacation in the province with my parents and I had so much fun. I thought that it would make me more focused at work when I get back, but it only got worse. The vacation made me realize that I've been working so much that If I ever die tomorrow, I'd be known as the good daughter who worked so much, has remained boyfriend-less for 24 years, and had no social life whatsoever.

I'm adjusting again, BIG TIME. And I'm taking it step by step. For now, I'll insert 2-3 hours of study and practice time everyday. Whatever I am weak at with my art or with web designing, I'm not going to be afraid or lazy anymore to deal with them until I get better. I will still work up to Saturday but Sunday will be rest day. Whether I do anything that day, it doesn't matter. Sunday is Rest Day.

Buying Super Sculpey Clay in the Philippines

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 15, 2008, 12:22 PM

To All Pinoy Buraots out there who keeps it a secret from those who asks...You know who you are! Shame on you! >=(

If you want to buy Super Sculpey Clay in the Philippines, you can buy it at Deovir at SM City (North Edsa). I'm not sure if they have it at their other stores. But I bet they have them there too =) They sell Primo there too. My friend :iconcocteautwins: bought his SS there along with the other tools he needed. 1 lb of SS = 588 php. He baked his using an ordinary oven toaster. Anyway I don't know a thing about how to use it so don't ask me XD I bet there's a lot of Super Sculpey tuts out there ;)

Enjoy! And remember! Share the knowledge and don't be an ass! =D

To the Buraots: Isaksak nyo sa baga nyo ang clay nyo =3 Para lumaki ang boowbies owkei =3 Libreng boob job ;)

Jericho
I'm addicted to it!!! argh! :XD: I've been watching it online and it's been nothing but awesome so far! Gawd I can't imagine what I would do if I'm in the same situation as them *fears*

It's coming soon on RPN 9 (a local channel here in my country).

I've finished 2 pages of rough drafts for this oneshot manga I've been working on. It's pretty boring :XD: But I just want to get something done already! It's a 15-page oneshot about an artist's struggle in finding a new job in a different country where she met an older brother like guy who also lives in the same country she's born at. Note: It's not a love story!

:XD: I want an older brother toooooooooo!!!!!!!
